Driving from Nashville to Memphis is an easy drive…but I hate doing it. I have learned a long time ago to appreciate and honor truck drivers because they get up early every morning (or every night) and pound that pavement to get our goods and services to us. Although many make a nice living at doing it, the time they put in and the ability to keep their eyes open for an extended period of time let’s me know that they’re still underpaid.
I can’t do it. Why? I think the older I get I’m developing a slight case of narcolepsy. My attention is short. If I’m not engaged, then my body checks out. With that being said, I drive back and forth from Memphis to Nashville every week just to be with my wife who’s at the Vanderbilt Cancer Center in Nashville. If she caught cancer ten times over I would still drive to Nashville just to make sure she’s okay. Although it’s been a challenge for me certain I do it, that’s the risk I’m willing to take.
So Tuesday my wife did a thing…or had a thing done to her yesterday. She received her new cells to replace the cancerous cells that have been dragging her through the mud for the past five years. Hopefully and prayerfully these will take back into remission for the next 725 years. As soon as she’s released, there will have to be a deep cleasing from all of the pharmaceuticals that been consistently pumped into her bloodstream on a daily. I’m excited to see her move past this and experience a new life of normalcy. Happy Birthday Baby!!
